Australia - Penley EstateAustralia - Penley Estate
Penley Estate was founded by Kim Tolley in 1988 and is situated in South Australia's famous Coonawarra district. The red "Terra Rossa" soils, cool climatic conditions and an abundance of sunshine make this a perfect location for vines.

The key for Penley's wines is balance. Time and again Kym Tolley manages to combine all the necessary elements - fruit, clean flavours and judicious oak to achieve elegance and finesse in a pleasingly understated, integrated way. Remarkably, since its inception, Penley wines have won 41 Trophies, 128 gold medals, 194 silver medals and 404 bronze medals in both Australian and International competitions.

Gryphon Merlot 2006

The grapes for this wine are picked at the moment their flavours are at their best and to also make sure the character of the Coonawarra area is still present. Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels for a period of 7-10 days.

A deep coloured wine with purple hues. The bouquet is restrained and shows red berry fruit and sweet vanilla oak. On the palate the wine shows ripe black and red fruit and cassis, low-medium tannins and is medium to full bodied.

Condor Shiraz Cabernet 2006
"The 2004 Condor (a blend of 60% Shiraz and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon) boasts an inky/ruby/purple colour as well as scents of graphite, dusty, loamy soil, a resiny/pine forest element, and plenty of blackberry and currant fruit. Deep and well-made with good tannin and structure, it is accessible now, but should age nicely for 7-8 years." 90/100 R Parker
